    Now I can understand the hype around boxing matches. Boxers throw a few insults around, meet each other and stare passively-aggressively until their eyeballs bleed. It’s all for the fans. The boxers’ managers like to pretend that there really is bad blood between the two boxers so they can excite the public to watch the match. But I didn’t have to explain that. It’s obvious right?

    Then why is there so much commotion about the incident between David Haye and Dereck Chisora? For those of you that were on a pilgrimage or some kind of soul-searching journey and haven’t heard the news: Haye allegedly bottled Chisora’s manager in the face, and there’s a video with ‘blood’ to prove it. Now, when the action actually happened the crowd moved in and blocked the camera’s view, so the bottling could easily have been staged. It all seems too suspicious to me, especially as Klitschko just stands back laughing like some kind of impossibly tall boxing pharaoh.

    But for the sake of their managers, let’s just entertain the fact that it did happen. Chisora and his manager are right to be upset, but let’s not allow the incident to take the spotlight away from the upcoming match with Klitschko. It seems a bit too reminiscent of Evra and Suarez for my liking. Perhaps Haye did bottle Chisora’s manager, or, more likely, Chisora realised how insignificant he is on the boxing scene and wants to generate as much attention as he can.
